What is Cursillo? (Pronounced Cur-see-yo)
Cursillo is an invitation for all to experience the love of Jesus on a more personal level and to bring this love into daily life. It is a tool for renewal and continued spiritual growth which enables us to be more effective Christian leaders in our parish, homes and workplaces. The Christ the King Cursillo community is affiliated with St Basil's Salvatorian Center and Seminary in Methuen, MA, which offers a three day "short course in Christianity". It is open to all Christians who are at least 21 years of age and runs monthly (October-June) alternating between men and women's weekends. The weekend is led by spiritual directors (priests, deacons, brothers and sisters) and lay people from many different parishes who lead the candidates in talks, sharing, prayer services and divine liturgies. Although one can only live Cursillo once, many return from their weekend with renewed faith and the desire to become a disciple in their home and parish. What is an Ultreya?
Ultreya is a monthly gathering of those looking to deepen their faith. Meetings take place the Friday after each Cursillo weekend from October to June. Meetings are held from 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM at St. Agnes Parish Center. There is worship music, prayer, a guest speaker/testimony and small group sharing. You do not have to have lived your Cursillo weekend to attend - all are welcome!
